Admission and entrance

Tribhuvan University's rule for the whole system: One centralised computer-based entrance examination run by the IOE Entrance Examination Board, admitting to every constituent campus and every affiliated college on a single merit list2. Its portal is entrance.ioe.edu.np.

  • It dates itself to Poush 2034 BS (1977) under a development loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank, followed by a technical-assistance agreement with the United Kingdom in Shrawan 2035 BS and main construction finished in 2043 BS.3
  • Bachelor teaching began in 2057 BS (2000) with Agricultural Engineering, which the campus describes as the first programme of its kind in Nepal. Civil followed in 2061 BS (2004) and master's teaching in 2074 BS (2017).3
  • It is the only institution in this record teaching Agriculture Engineering at bachelor level, at 12 Regular and 36 Full Fee places.2
  • It says it teaches more than 2,300 students on about 234,870 square metres beside the Charkose Jhadi forest at the entrance to Dharan, and that English is its medium of instruction.3
  • Its 396 Full Fee places are the largest such pool of the five constituent campuses, set against 132 Regular places.2
