Which colleges hold the affiliation, how many places each has, and how to compare them.
Which colleges award a Tribhuvan University engineering degree?
Fifteen institutions teach a Tribhuvan University BE, and they divide into two kinds the university treats identically on paper. Five are constituent campuses run by the Institute of Engineering itself — Pulchowk in Lalitpur, Thapathali in Kathmandu, Purwanchal in Dharan, Paschimanchal in Pokhara and Chitwan Engineering Campus at Rampur — targeting 2,040 places for 2083. Ten are private colleges holding IOE affiliation, targeting 2,304 places between them, six of them in Lalitpur, two in Bhaktapur and two in Kathmandu. All fifteen admit from one entrance examination and one central merit list, teach one syllabus, sit one set of papers and award one degree. What differs between them is teaching, laboratories, cost and location, and only the constituent fee is published centrally: every private figure has to be read off that college’s own material, dated and in writing. Each affiliated college must also admit ten per cent of its intake at a fee equivalent to IOE’s Regular rate.
